Anonymous asked: What's your favourite film? Or top five favourite films, if you're indecisive.
In the order of preference:
1. The Tin Drum
2. I’m Not There (for reasons detailed here)
3. Pulp Fiction
Honorable mentions (a.k.a. I-cannot-believe-this-didn’t-make-the-list / in-some-ways-these movies-are-even-better-movies-than-the-ones-that-made-my-personal-top-five mentions): Cinema Paradiso, Dogville, Kiss of the Spider Woman, The Lion King, 8 1/2, Napoleon Dynamite, Tsotsi, The Celebration, Reservoir Dogs, Falling Down, There Will Be Blood, My Dinner with Andre, Christopher Guest’s anything as a writer/director.
If you (my dear followers) have yet to see some of these, I highly recommend you track down a copy. You won’t regret it! I wouldn’t recommend it if I didn’t think there was something in it that will move you — and I’m willing to stand behind these movies, argue for their awesomeness.
So let your thoughts known about my choices, whether you agree or not with some or all of my choices — I love talking about this stuff, arguing about it, overanalyzing it. If you do end up watching some of these on the list in the future, make sure to drop me a line with your thoughts.
